Nike is giving its basketball community what they’ve been screaming out for – MORE KOBE’S!
But not just any ordinary pair of the former NBA superstar’s signature shoes, one in honour of his late daughter. The ‘Gigi’ Nike Kobe 4 Protro official images have been released with popular Instagram account BR Kicks posting the shots on Wednesday, sending the sneaker community into a frenzy.
It was looking like just two more years of Kobe kicks, when Kobe Bryant’s contract with Nike came to an end, that the insanely high demanded sneaker line was never going to be produced again. However, his widow Vanessa Bryant announced in March 2022 that the partnership was going to continue, which has seen a number of releases over the past year including a previous nod to Gigi.

This upcoming drop is expected to be one of the most anticipated since the continuation of the Kobe-Nike partnership. And people hopeful to get their hands on a pair won’t have to wait much longer.

When are the ‘Gigi’ Nike Kobe 4s being released and how much will they cost?
Similarly to last year when Nike dropped its first Kobe sneaker after inking a new deal with his estate, the ‘Mambacita Sweet 16’ Kobe 6 Protro, this new shoe in honour of Gigi will be released on what would’ve been her 17th birthday – May 1st.
The sneaker is now showing on Nike’s website and is being listed at $180 USD and will be sold there and at other select sneaker retailers.
What are the details on the ‘Gigi’ Nike Kobe 4s?
Much like the ‘Mambacita Sweet 16’, the ‘Gigi’ Nike Kobe 4s have the simple black and white colour scheme that represents Gigi’s AAU Team Mamba jerseys.
More direct nods are found on the back ankle of the shoe with Gigi’s name embroidered across the back with a gold number 2, her jersey number, below it. This is continued on the tips of the laces with her name printed in a subtle way.
Slight touches of gold break up the basic black and white design with that gold number 2 and golden Mamba logo on the tongue.

With Instagram account ‘BR Kicks’ sharing the official images from Nike on the social media platform, many took the comments to provide their thoughts.
The main consensus seems to be that these are going to be hard to get of pair of and that resellers are going to ask for an arm or leg.
One user wrote “Clean!!! But getting your hands on these is gonna be damn near impossible”, with another saying “Can’t wait to not get them and see them being resold for 5x retail”.
