Best sports bars Brisbane

Melbourne talks a big game, but it has a major rival. Here are six of the best sports bars Brisbane has to offer, so you don’t miss the big moments.

If you’re headed to Bris Vegas for the NRL’s annual Magic Round, or any time for that matter, you’re probably on the lookout for the best sports bars the city has to offer; whether it’s a big Broncos game, or to try and check out the next big UFC fight.

And thankfully, there are some top shelf alternatives.

Let’s dive in and hand pick the best sports bars Brisbane has… not just bars that play sport, but the ones that offer even more.

Best sports bars Brisbane

The Caxton Hotel

Located just a short walk from Suncorp Stadium, The Caxton Hotel should be at the top of your list if you’re looking for the best sports bars Queensland’s capital has to offer for NRL and soccer fans.

It’s one of the oldest licensed pubs in town, and is basically guaranteed to be busy on any given game day. The Caxton is the perfect place for pre and post-game bevs.

If you haven’t been before, you’ll be truly shocked how close it is to the stadium. And Caxton Street is normally shut off to cars for big games, creating a spilled out street party vibe. It’s truly epic.

Just one thing, as far as the fine print goes, make sure to plan ahead because it usually gets pretty busy.

The Pineapple Hotel

If the Caxton is a Brisbane NRL fan’s spiritual home, then The Pineapple Hotel — or The Piney — is the AFL equivalent. Located a stone’s throw from the Gabba, the Piney is guaranteed to be popping off whenever the Brisbane Lions are playing.

You can bet that the above sentiment is transferred over in the summer months when there’s cricket at the Gabba, either an ODI, T20i, Heat game or Test.

In addition to a great pre and post-match drink, the Piney also serves up a mean feed, which is perfect for lining the stomach before a big day on the overpriced stadium beers at the Gabba.

Buffalo Bar

If you’re in town for the weekend and want to watch your favourite American sports, Buffalo Bar is the place for you; easily one of the best sports bars Brisbane has for NFL fans.

Buffalo Bar isn’t just for US sports fans though, with most sports covered throughout the year.

The Jubilee

Located in the heart of Fortitude Valley, the heritage listed Jubilee Hotel has just received a multi-million dollar facelift and is now better than ever. To be quite honest, it would be rude not to start your night out in the Valley at the Jube for a few drinks and a game of footy.

The new renovation includes its own microbrewery, a stadium-sized television and a delicious new menu. The only question that remains is when are you getting your friends together to see for yourself?

WingHAÜS, CBD

This place is slick. You’ll notice the South American vibe as soon as you enter, plus probably recognise the scent of fried wings, one of the venue’s specialties. Winghaus offers eight variety of dipping sauces to wash down with wings, plus 40-plus beer alternatives to pick from at the bar.

There’s plenty of vintage sporting memorabilia, foosball and importantly 20-plus screens scattered throughout.

Breakfast Creek Hotel

If you’re looking for a glorious beer garden to kick back and watch the cricket in during those hot Brisbane summer days, look no further than the Breakfast Creek Hotel.

Good food, good beer, lots of sport on the TV, what’s not to love? Just make sure to book a table on busy days because it is one of the best sports bars Brisbane has for a reason.
