A new biopic will tell the incredible life story of boxer and grill tycoon George Foreman

If there’s one thing we know for sure in 2023, it’s that sports are being milked for every docu-series and biopic that is humanly possible. And it turns out George Forman is not immune to the trend.

The two-time heavyweight champion will now be the subject of a new biopic: Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Foreman’s biopic is the latest in a string of boxing biopics including Raging Bull, Cinderella Man and Ali.

Boxing fans are in luck because Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World isn’t too far away. The film will be released on April 28, 2023.

Who is involved in the project?

Khris Davis (known for his work in Atlanta) will play Foreman, alongside Forest Whitaker, Jasmine Matthews and Harlem’s Sullivan Jones — who will play Muhammad Ali.

The film will be directed by George Tillman Jr. — an expert in the biopic space, whose previous work includes Notorious, The Hate U Give, Soul Foods, and Faster.

What is the plot?

As is to be expected, the film will follow Foreman’s life, including his heavyweight championship win, his iconic Rumble in the Jungle fight against Muhammad Ali, and then his later life in which he found religion, retired from boxing and became a preacher.

In addition to his actual boxing career, the film will also look into his childhood, his financial hardships and, of course, his grilling empire that eventually he became so well known for.

According to IMDB, the film will “follow the remarkable life and times of Foreman, from Olympic Gold medalist to World Heavyweight champion, from the Rumble in the Jungle fight with Muhammad Ali in Zaire to finding his faith, retiring, and becoming a preacher. When financial hardship hits his family and church, he steps back into the ring and regains the championship at age 45, becoming the oldest heavyweight champion in boxing history.”
