As if we didn’t have enough World Cup excitement to look forward to this year, with the FIFA Women’s World Cup kicking off in July, we also have the Netball World Cup taking place in South Africa around the same time.

The Vitality Netball World Cup 2023 will be the 16th rendition of the international tournament, plus the 60th anniversary of the first tournament way back in 1963.

When and where is the 2023 Netball World Cup?

JULY 28 – AUGUST 6, 2023

The 2023 World Cup will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, between Friday July 28 and Sunday August 6 at the International Convention Centre.

The tournament is significant because this is the first time the World Cup has been held in Africa in its 60 years.

Who is in Australia’s group for the 2023 Netball World Cup?

Australia is in Group A for the stage one preliminaries at the 2023 Netball World Cup. Our group looks like this:

Which countries are competing at the 2023 Netball World Cup?

Sixteen teams will compete. As is the case with all World Cups, the host nation automatically qualifies, as well as the top five ranked other countries from around the world. The remaining ten positions are won through regional qualification tournaments in Oceania, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Who is the most successful team in Netball World Cup history?

AUSTRALIA

Australia is the most successful team in the history of the Netball World Cup, having won 11 out of the 15 championships.

In fact, Australia or New Zealand have won every World Cup — although Trinidad and Tobago have also won a title, thanks to the three-way tie in 1979 between Australia, New Zealand and the host nation.
