physical: 100

If you’re looking for a new show to binge-watch while waiting for the return of your favourite sport, look no further than Netflix’s latest addition Physical: 100 — which is basically Squid Game but for South Korea’s best athletes.

The reality TV series has shot to the top of Netflix’s most-watched lists across the globe, and for good reason — and it hasn’t even finished yet!

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the season finale, which is just days away from release.

What is Physical: 100?

Physical: 100 is a reality TV show filmed in South Korea that brings together 100 elite athletes from all walks of life — both male and female — in the ultimate test of physical fitness.

It brings together the intensity of Squid Game, the athleticism of professional sport and the ego that comes with it for a truly captivating watch.

Athletes involved in the show include Olympic gold medal-winning gymnasts, fitness vloggers, navy seals, bodybuilders, farmers, rugby players and pretty much every other discipline you could imagine — there is even a rapper.

Some are professional athletes, others have since moved into other fields of work. But the one thing they all have in common is their incredible strength and endurance.

Each player has their own strengths and weaknesses, which bring advantages in different challenges (known as “quests”). But all in all, the series showcases 100 people at the absolute peak of physical fitness — which makes for entertaining television.

While Squid Game saw people being vindictive and sabotaging each other, Physical: 100 focuses on genuine competitiveness, with the athletes being impressed by each other’s talent. But, obviously, it is easier to be supportive of your competitors when your literal life is not on the line.

Where can I watch Physical: 100?

Physical: 100 is available on Netflix, episodes of season 1 are released on a weekly basis with eight episodes released to-date.

The series is originally recorded in Korean, but can be watched either in Korean with English subtitles, or with an English dub, depending on your preference.

Is there a trailer?

What is the prize?

While the odds aren’t quite as high as Squid Game (e.g: your life isn’t at risk), there is still a pretty big prize on the line in Physical: 100. The winner will walk away with ₩300 million ($339,280.20 AUD).

If, however, you are eliminated throughout the show, you must smash a porcelain replica of your torso and leave the competition.

When is the finale?

The season finale will drop on Netflix worldwide on Tuesday 21st February. The first eight episodes are available to watch now.

SPOILERS AHEAD

We have been left on a cliffhanger (as always) ahead of the finale of Physical: 100, knowing only four of the five contestants who made it to the last challenge.

Woo Jin-yong (crossfitter), Kim Min-cheol (ice climber), Park Jin-yong (luger) and Jo Jin-hyeong (strongman) are all confirmed to be in the final, alongside either Jeong Hae-Min (track cyclist) or Yun Sung-bin (skeleton racer,) depending on who actually won the last quest.

Yun Sung-bin is currently being heralded as the fan favourite.

Will there be a second season?

Netflix is yet to confirm whether there will be a second season of Physical: 100, but considering how popular the show has been in its first season, it seems likely. We will be sure to update you as soon as any information regarding a second season is made available.
