Jack Robinson could be Australia’s new surfing king, with incredible early signs at the iconic Tahiti Pro that could lift his hopes of a fairytale maiden title.
Jack Robinson has put down a noticeable first up heat at one of the Tour’s most famous stops, Teahupo’o.
The 24-year-old went through qualifiers with flying colours, finding some of the opening morning’s best rides at the fierce reef break. The Tahiti Pro annually looms as an event that separates the dreamers from the genuine threats, so his highlight moments are just the signs Aussie surfing fans were after.

Robinson has emerged as a genuine threat to win the crown this year, displaying form that’s right there with the best surfers on the planet and consistency to match. He’s second behind only Brazil’s Filipe Toledo, enjoying a breakout 2022 in the WSL has caught plenty by surprise. The Margaret River native has already claimed two event wins and is coming off a run to the finals last month in South Africa’s Jeffrey’s Bay.
Robinson, alongside fellow countrymen, Ethan Ewing have led a resurgence in Australian Men’s surfing this season and success at Teahupo’o will keep the pair right in the mix for the title race.
