It’s fair to say Harry Kewell’s role as lead expert of SBS’s World Cup coverage has got off to an up-an-down start.
It’s certainly not an easy skill; it can take some time to get into the swing of it, to be sure.
The former Socceroos star has been tasked trying to keep a level head while his beloved side look to win through to the knockout stage, too.

Monitoring Kewell’s progress in the commentary box has been a fun sub-plot during Socceroos games to this point.
He’s now spent most of his post-playing time refining his coaching credentials, currently in charge of Celtic’s first team, underneath fellow Aussie export Ange Postecoglou. It comes after stints in charge of English fifth tier sides Barnet FC, Oldham Athletic and Notts County.
He’s certainly having a crack; gaining experience in two of the more common post-career pivots.
As for the commentary, there was one other moment that caught viewers’ attention, during Australia’s huge win over Tunisia.
Who knows what’s coming next from Kewell in Qatar, but Australia are in action against Denmark at 2am AEDT on Thursday morning. And it’s going to be a particularly stressful 90 minutes for the Aussie up to watch it.
