After missing all of last season, Zion Williamson looks to be in the best shape of his life, literally.
The NBA enigma that is Zion Williamson looks incredible.
The 2019 Draft’s top pick has put his extraordinary body transformation on display during the Pelicans’ media day. As fans began to wonder whether reality would ever approach the hype with Zion, this is a moment of promise.
Media day in the NBA signals the start of gruelling training camps, but it seems 22-year-old’s been grinding.

Williamson has had an injury riddled start to his NBA career, starting off his Pelicans tenure with a 13-week stint on the sidelines to repair a knee injury suffered in preseason. He exploded in his debut game, shooting an unprecedented four-straight three pointers, sending shockwaves through the hoops world.
He then overcame another injury setback the following season, becoming one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA and named in the All-Star team. But that was one of the last games he’s played.
His last appearance came against the Warriors on May 4th 2021 and NBA fans have been learning patience ever since.

Zion has been the centre of fierce criticism during his time off the court, as photo and video evidence mounted a compelling case he wasn’t looking after himself. Experts and fans questioned his motivation and professionalism. But it looks like Zion is about to send everyone silent.
There are good signs he’s also in shape mentally, not just physically.
“I feel like I’m at my best right now, I feel like I’m moving faster, I’m jumping higher. I feel great.” Williamson said during his media day appearance.

Williamson’s strength and condition coach shared the same sentiment saying he’s become a better athlete than he’s ever been.
His Pelicans, last season, were boosted by the additions of veterans C.J McCollum and Jonas Valanciunas. It’s likely more than coincidence that Zion is on track to take the League by storm, given the leadership in the building that was acquired before the last trade deadline.
New Orleans made the Playoffs last season, giving the number one seeded Suns an almighty scare in the first round; taking Phoenix to six games.
It’s feasible that a top flight Zion elevates the Pelicans to contender status in the West.

Although it may seem like a lifetime ago, ‘college Zion’ was a phenomenon that had NBA fans licking their lips. The weight-to-athleticism is world famous and if he can stay on the court, we’re all in for a wild ride.
