All class: Lamar Jackson’s incredibly wholesome surprise

Share

Well done, Lamar Jackson.

The Batimore Ravens’ star quarterback provided a young fan the experience of a lifetime; potentially the exact lift that Landon Berry needed.

The Jackson superfan is doing it tough, battling through a heart condition. There’s a video now doing the rounds, as Lamar made a pre-game stop off to meet young Landon. His reaction was everything.

This happened just before Baltimore’s Week 9 Monday Night road showdown with the New Orleans Saints; resulting in a ‘get right game’ for the Ravens, winning 27-13.

Jackson went 12/22 for 133 yards and a touchdown through the air, but in addition ran for 82 yards on 11 attempts and controlled things enough to ensure the Saints never had a chance to work back into the ball game.

Lamar Jackson has had a strong season so far, steering his AFC North team to a 6-3 record; they lead the division, ahead of the 5-4 Bengals. He has famously ‘bet on himself’ this season, opting not to sign a generous extension with Baltimore before the new season. He’s confident another strong campaign has him in line for an even bigger pay day.

Jackson reportedly turned down a six-year offer worth around $250 million dollars, $133M of that guaranteed. It’s been widely reported the stud QB is after more of the money guaranteed, closer to the $233M that Cleveland’s Deshaun Watson got locked away earlier this year.

There is inherently more risk playing quarterback the way Watson and Jackson do; posing dual-threat problems as adequate passers and runners, which leads to taking more hits. And further complicating things is the fact Lamar represents himself; he has no agent.

The reality is he’s a classy QB and a quality person, as his last 48 hours – on and off the field – have proven.
