“Josh Green is going to make a lot of money,” coach says

Share

It’s all about making money in the NBA. Well, that’s kind of a handy life skill, too.

But making money is a metaphorical currency in the hoops world, too. It’s spoken about way more openly than in just about any other sport worldwide.

Don’t you dare ask a precious athlete down under what they’re earning, or their media manager will blacklist you.

But an Aussie doing extraordinary things in the United States was ‘paid’ the ultimate compliment from coach Jason Kidd, after completely tearing the Phoenix Suns a new one; helping Dallas stay above .500 and in the Western Conference mix as the calendar year winds down.

Green dominated with 26 points, two steals, five assists and four rebounds. His plus-minus was a team-high +26.

And Mavs coach Jason Kidd confirmed that in no uncertain terms the Sydney-born guard is showing serious promise in the world’s best basketball league.

“(If) he continues to keep working he is going to make a lot of money,” Kidd said.

“He (Jalen Brunson) got paid and Josh is going to get paid a lot of money I’m telling you here today.

“The truth is the kid is really good… if he continues to work and help what the team (is doing), the kid has all the talents to be a superstar.”

Now 22, Green is eligible for an extension at the end of this season… something to track even more closely after Kidd’s most recent press conference.
