It seems like just yesterday Luka Doncic was drafted into the NBA. Now, all of a sudden, the Mavericks star has his second signature shoe on the way, the Jordan Luka 2.
Only 10 months since the initial conception of Doncic’s shoe-line was released, the Jordan Luka 2 is just around the corner; expected to continue to add to the early legacy of the Slovenian superstar.
Now heading into his sixth season in the association, Doncic has had a meteoric rise in his young career — the Rookie of the Year winner in 2019, making four All Star appearances and being selected in the All-NBA team four times as well.
With that kind of resume, it’s no surprise Jordan Brand locked up Doncic to a five-year deal worth $75 million, with full intensions of creating this highly anticipated signature line alongside Celtics star Jayson Tatum.
In early July, popular sneaker-media outlet brkicks posted the best look yet at the upcoming Jordan Luka 2, considering the only time the public had seen them was after Doncic debuted them late in the 2022/23 season against the Sacramento Kings.
Four colourways have been leaked so far that are expected to be released from July through to the end of the year, with some linking back to his heritage in Europe.
With the release upon us, let’s have a look at everything there is to know about the new Luka Doncic sneaker, the Jordan Luka 2.
When are the Jordan Luka 2 signature sneakers being released?
July 11, 2023
According to Complex, the first colourway of the Jordan Luka 2 that will be released, the ‘Luk.AI‘, is available on July 11 following a Jordan Brand members only drop a few days prior.
It’s being reported that the following leaked colourways, including the ‘Matador‘, will be released later in 2023 starting with that one on August 3.
How much do the Jordan Luka 2 signature sneakers cost and where can I get them?
Already in Australia, the first and most basic colourway of the Jordan Luka 2 shoe-line has been released, selling at a retail price of $190 AUD.
However, the upcoming releases are the ones that have basketball sneaker-heads interested, with the ‘Luk.AI’ listed at $130 USD (roughly $190 AUD) on Jordan.com.
The Jordan Luka 2 will be available for purchasing through Nike’s online store and at select sneaker retailers.
What are the details on the upcoming Jordan Luka 2’s?
So far according to brkicks’s social media post, there are four new Jordan Luka 2 colourways headed our way, all with vastly different looks.
The obvious similarity all four hold is that they are the same silhouette with a mesh body, mid-height build and large outer sole.
The first colourway to hit the shelves is the ‘Luk.AI’ which is predominantly a dark design with flashes of purple and turquoise in certain parts of the shoe.
Expected to drop in early August, the ‘Matador’ is quite a simple design with a full light blue coloured body with a couple panels on the outer sole painted white. It’s also the only sneaker in Jordan Luka 2 line that is made of suede.
The third release, the ‘Nebula‘ colourway, is a predominately grey with a blend of colours through the linings that are meant to replicate the appearance of a nebula.
Finally, and arguably the most special one for Doncic, is the Jordan Luka 2 ‘Lake Bled‘, based on a popular tourist destination in his home country of Slovenia. Rumoured to drop September 14, the ‘Lake Bled’ colourway mixes multiple forms of blue with bright red detailing across the shoe.
