Prince Harry’s releasing an Invictus Games Netflix series and hopefully it’s not as dramatic as his memoir

Heart of Invictus

As if Prince Harry hasn’t already given us enough with his oversharing memoir and Netflix series, the Duke of Sussex is also giving us a Drive to Survive-style documentary. It’ll chronicle the athletes competing in his Invictus Games entitled Heart of Invictus.

The series comes as part of a slate of new sporting docu-series that the streaming giant is rolling out in 2023 after the roaring success of Formula One: Drive to Survive.

Who is involved in Heart of Invictus?

The series will follow the competitors of the Invictus Games, but will also include appearances from Meghan and Prince Harry, who were spotted with camera crews at the Games last year. Prince Harry also serves as the series’ executive producer.

In addition to being incredible athletes, the competitors in the Invictus Games are all servicemen and women who have suffered life-changing injuries while serving in the armed forces, so the docuseries will focus not only on their sporting achievements, but also their personal stories.

In a statement following the series’ announcement, Prince Harry explained how the series will serve as a window into their stories.

“Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve,” he said.

“This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year.

What does the series cover?

Heart of Invictus will follow the athletes competing in the 2020 Invictus Games in The Hague, Netherlands. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Games ended up being delayed until April 2022 — so the docuseries is much more recent than the name suggested.

Heart of Invictus

“This new series from Archewell Productions follows a group of extraordinary competitors from around the globe — all service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses — on their road to competing at the Invictus Games,” Netflix wrote in an announcement for the upcoming series.

When is the Heart of Invictus release date?

The series will debut on Netflix this winter, with a specific release date yet to be announced. This means you’ll be able to binge-watch all of Heart of Invictus before the 2023 Invictus Games, which take place in Dusseldorf, Germany in September of this year.

What can I watch while I wait?

In addition to the OG, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, there is also Break Point (tennis), The Test (cricket), Make or Break (surfing), Welcome to Wrexham (football), as well as an upcoming Netflix project on Le Tour De France.
