The road to WrestleMania 40 goes through Australia.
The WWE announced several months back that its final Premium Live Event before wrestling’s pinnacle event is scheduled for Perth and the countdown is virtually up.
Athletes in both the men’s and women’s divisions will do battle in the event’s namesake, the Elimination Chamber, for the opportunity to compete for a title at WrestleMania — the stakes are pretty big.
The Women’s World Champion is Aussie Rhea Ripley; she claimed the belt in one of the WWE’s matches of the year at WrestleMania a year ago against royalty Charlotte Flair. It’s undoubtedly boosted the spotlight on what Aussies are doing in wrestling, in both in the WWE and also rival promotions.
Ripley is now one of the cornerstone figures of the women’s division and company. She’s been utterly untouchable since claiming title gold and it frankly doesn’t look like that’ll be changing any time soon.
It ensures that no less than one Aussie will remain a central figure in the WWE going forward, as we’ve also seen Grayson Waller and Bronson Reed emerge as high profile characters on the men’s side of the equation.
And all this has led to the company recognising the opportunity to bring more Aussie eyeballs to the product. So Perth is playing host to some of the promotions biggest names and profiles, with plenty on the line in one of WWE’s biggest events of the year so far.
It’s an event that’s predicted to inject $33 million dollars into the economy, per Forbes.
Elimination Chamber 2024 Guide
Six athletes will compete to be the top contender for championships at WrestleMania in April, in Philadelphia. There’s both a men’s and also women’s match.
What is it?
The chamber itself is a large structure around the ring, with four smaller sections behind each ring post. Two wrestlers begin inside the ring, while the remaining four start locked in one of the smaller chambers and one is released to join the fray, at random, every five minutes.
Wrestlers are eliminated by pinfall or submission, with the last remaining superstar ultimately winning.

What else is on the card?
Grayson Waller Effect
World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes are booked for the Grayson Waller Effect, a live Q&A-style segment where the brash Aussie offends his guests and inflames narratives.
While both Rollins and Rhodes are booked for seperate matches at WrestleMania, the pair have history and their story remains intertwined through their rivalries with Roman Reigns and the Bloodline, which now also features The Rock. Rhodes will go up against Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in WrestleMania’s co-Main Event, while Rollins will battle the Elimination Chamber winner.

Women’s World Championship
Rhea Ripley vs. Nia Jax
South Australian and champ Rhea Ripley defends her title against Nia Jax, who was in fact born in Sydney. While Jax identifies as American, growing up in Hawaii, it makes sense for the promotion to give this one extra Aussie flavour.
Both women are towering figures; this match will have them throw their weight around. But it would be a complete shock if Ripley didn’t retain and head to WrestleMania as the champ.
Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship
The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Damian Priest) vs. Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate
